Culture Pass partnered with museums and theaters across the five boroughs to bring library patrons dozens of free virtual programs in the spring of 2021.
Events gave library patrons the chance to learn about everything from ancient Mesopotamian literature to contemporary Chinese architecture, from cooking and the cosmos to the history of air travel and stories of sunken subway cars.
Culture Pass programming is made possible through generous funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), Charles H. Revson Foundation, New York Community Trust, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

¡Acompáñennos participando en un taller de STEAM muy especial en Español realizado en colaboración con Culture Pass! Celebremos el Cinco de Mayo y aprendamos sobre Repujado, una técnica tradicional mexicana para realizar piezas con relieve.
El Repujado es un proceso en el que trabajamos con una herramienta redonda el lado posterior de un metal blando para crear una pieza de arte. Esta técnica de realce tradicional data desde el siglo 12. Mediante esta técnica se transforma una lámina delgada de metal en una pieza con relieve ( un objeto tridimensional) para crear hermosas piezas de arte con realce. ¡Los participantes utilizarán este proceso como inspiración para nuestro taller en celebración del Cinco de Mayo utilizando objetos que utilizamos en casa diariamente! Diseña, realza y colorea tu propio arte repujado.

David Hammons utilizó el cuerpo como herramienta de dibujo y placa de impresión para la creación de imágenes. Estas obras celebran lo sagrado de los objetos tocados o hechos por el cuerpo negro y revelan la penetrante crítica de Hammons sobre la opresión racial y su profundo compromiso con la justicia social. Presented in Spanish and English, and guided by teaching artist Ada Pilar Cruz, this participatory online drawing workshop focuses on a selection of works in - David Hammons: Body Prints, 1968–1979. David Hammons used the body as both a drawing tool and printing plate for image making. These works celebrate the sacredness of objects touched or made by the Black body and reveal Hammons’s biting critique of racial oppression and his deep commitment to social justice. The hands-on project includes oiling parts of your body and objects.

Queens currently has two incredibly busy airports, La Guardia, and JFK International. These were not the only options that Queens residents have had since the turn of the century. Queens has long been a bustling center of aviation, and travel for NYC, now more than ever. We'll go over how the Jet Age shaped Queens tourism, and what travel has been like over the decades, and the historic spaces associated with it.

Join actors Julia Brothers, Claire Hsu and director Michael Leibenluft to explore the possibilities of bilingual theater and the connections between language-learning and performance. The three theater makers will lead audience members in a series of improv games and script study in Mandarin and English to offer a glimpse into the actor's process and to explore the relationship between language, play, and acting.
